Daily Kindle Bargain - The Order of the Blood by Nicole Vlachos and Lane Morris

Once, vampires of the Order of the Blood were revered and respected, but a change in political tides and waves of genocide forced them into hiding. Now, split into two factions with very different means to the end of regaining their freedoms, the brothers of the Order face a resurgence of public fear and hatred. A newly turned vampire, Ian, finds himself torn between sides. Interested only in saving his mortal love, Robin, from the bewitching spell of an older, much more powerful leader of an underground rebellion, Gideon, Ian must choose between protecting Robin, or betraying those of his kind. Though Gideon claims to love her, too, how far will he go to protect the fragile beginnings of his new world order? And with the membership of of their brotherhood divided, who will be powerful enough to stop him?

From the Reviewers:

"Nicole Vlachos and Lane Morris have created a dark world of political corruption, persecution, control, and the supernatural. Robin McInnis finds herself torn between two members of The Brethren: Gideon--ancient, cocky, dangerous, and committed to an ideology that leaves humans in the dust--and Ian-–the newly made vampire who knows her inside and out and has worshipped her from afar most of his human life. While Gideon strives to break free of the constant government persecution by any means necessary for himself and the vampire community, Ian’s motivations are not as grandiose. He just wants to have an eternity worth living. Not only will Robin have to make a choice on whom she gives her heart to, but how she wants her life to end–-taken by mortality or her lover.

"A good book will make you like the characters; a great book will make you love them so much they drive you crazy when they mess up, just like a friend. This was my feeling for the characters of The Order of the Blood from the beginning. I loved Ian’s sweetness; Gideon was sexy as hell; Robin worked hard to keep her head as chaos swelled all around her. But as the saying goes, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” You follow these characters as they try to do what they think is right, and inevitably, screw up again. And just when you begin to wonder how any of them will ever get out of this in one piece… well, I won’t give away the ending, but I could swear I could hear the chorus from “Joyful, Joyful (We Adore Thee)” playing somewhere far off. Or maybe the Hallelujah Chorus. Or something epic with a tabernacle choir. So before you throw your hands up in the air as they stumble and fall, remember: you love these guys. You want them to succeed. Everything will be okay, just keep reading. You will not be disappointed."

"There are no vampires of the sparkly-Zen persuasion in this novel. Vlachos and Morris bring us back to our paranormal roots with the sexy and sadistic vampires we love. The characters are 3-dimensional and the ending was as unpredictable as it was thrilling. I welcome these newcomers to the paranormal genre and look forward to another collaboration."
